Parent / Carer Charter
We have created a Parent/Carer Charter which further details how we will work with you once your young person is enrolled. You can find this on our College website by searching for "Parent Carer Charter".
Personal Tutors
Our Personal Tutors are the first point of contact if you have any concerns. They will also be the person most likely to contact you if necessary. Our personal tutors meet with their students at least once every half-term where progress is discussed and targets set. We encourage our students to contact their personal tutor quickly if they have any worries.
Our personal tutors work closely with their students to identify what they need to do to achieve their potential whilst at College. They work with them to set targets and write action plans to overcome any weaknesses they may have or just to help them to become better at something. Students who set effective targets, are able to raise the level of their performance and achieve well. It also helps them to mature and take responsibility for themselves and their work.
Our personal tutors also monitor their students' progress, reviewing information provided by teachers, so they have a good overview of how your young person is doing. Information from these progress reports will be available at parent/carer evenings and via our Parent Portal system (keep an eye on emails for information on that).
Counselling
We have a team of professionally qualified and experienced counsellors who provide free confidential support regarding any academic or personal concerns Students may have. Please speak with your tutor or our Student Support team for more information.
Careers
All our students have access to professional, independent and impartial careers guidance. We can help you explore options for when you move on from college including employment, further and higher education. This individual support is part of a wider programme of careers education in College which includes careers talks, events and higher education open days. Please call 01458 844409 for more information or email careershelp@strode-college.ac.uk.
Health Matters
Students can get advice and guidance on sexual health from the Young Person's Clinic which runs once a week at college. They can sign up for the Condom Card Scheme, benefit from free Chlamydia screening and we provide pregnancy tests and support.
